Evolving and Expanding: The Continuation of the AgrAcademy Bridging Programme in Haarlem

Haarlem, South Africa • 17 July 2026

We are proud to share a quick update on the continuation of our Agracademy bridging programme for young people in Haarlem, South Africa. Building directly upon our earlier foundations, our young entrepreneurs have stepped into an advanced phase of business development, digital literacy, and regional market strategy.

Led by mentor Theophilus Van Rensburg Lindzter, this stage of the programme focuses on helping participants transition away from survival-based work and build highly profitable, resilient businesses.

Key Highlights from our Recent Progress:

  • Advanced Financial Mastery: Students are diving into corporate financial planning, exploring tax-deductible operational and home-office expenses, and learning how to navigate South African statutory obligations like PAYE, UIF, and SDL.
  • The Haarlem Business Support Agency: Setting up for an official launch on September 1st, this agency will focus on six core pillars—including product incubation, pricing strategies, brand storytelling, legal/IP protection, and connecting rural businesses to urban capital.
  • Deploying Digital Infrastructure: To establish professional legitimacy, the programme is utilizing its dedicated domain (www.haarlem.co.za) to launch independent subdomains and custom email networks for student and entrepreneur businesses like MelioTech Innovation, Woodman and MoniqLens.
  • Hands-On Technical Capabilities: Participants are gaining practical experience in WordPress backend management, converting digital leads into closed sales, and evaluating South African payment gateways like PayAt, Ozow, and Peach Payments.
  • Community Action & Resilience: Despite local challenges like load shedding, students are already active in the community. Kevin Hitzeroth is preparing to manage photography for a local Matric ceremony, and the group is looking into setting up communication booths to help residents navigate online applications for government flood relief funding.

What's Next?

As our students complete their web design assessments and final presentations via Google Classroom, we look forward to the formal launch of their business platforms. Thank you for supporting the continuous growth of Haarlem’s next generation of leaders!

Hope

Amidst the

Floodwaters

Sunday, 10 May, 2026

Over the last week, the Southern Cape of South Africa has been gripped by a devastating cut-off low-pressure system. Headlines across the nation tell a grim story of catastrophic flooding sweeping away homes and infrastructure. While the scale of the disaster is national, our hearts and efforts have been centered on the small village of Haarlem, home to our Learning Academy Worldwide agriculture training school.

Haarlem was exceptionally hard-hit, with the local store submerged and communication lines severed. Because of its small size, the village was not prioritized by overstretched emergency response teams. This is where our community stepped in.

From Appeal to Action

When the flooding cut Haarlem off from surrounding areas, we launched an urgent appeal to support families of our student and small-scale farmer cohort. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we exceeded our initial goal of 10 families, providing essential necessities to 12 families during our outreach.

How Your Donations Helped:

  • Clean Water & Nutrition: Clean drinking water and long-life milk.
  • Warmth & Safety: Portable gas stoves to boil water and prepare warm meals in blacked-out conditions.
  • Health & Hygiene: Essential hygiene supplies, sanitary pads.
  • Lighting: Powerbanks and battery-powered torches to navigate freezing, dark conditions.
"We've just returned from our second outreach day... the deep gratitude from everyone we met reinforces the importance of this work."

The Road Ahead

The emergency is far from over. While the weather has briefly stabilized, new rain and storms are forecast. Recovery, repairs, and rebuilding are critical next steps. We must sustain our support to reach even more families in need as they face the aftermath of this national disaster.

Help Us Continue This Mission

If you believe in strengthening communities during crises, please consider continuing your support for our ongoing relief efforts.
